Sub-regional workshop to enhance science-policy-industry interaction and to support Parties in science-based decision-making for the implementation of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm (BRS) Conventions
The BCCC-Africa, the BRS Secretariat and the Government of Ghana (through its Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology & Innovation – MESTI) have jointly organised the inception meeting for the plastic waste management project titled “Marine litter and microplastics: promoting the environmentally sound management of plastic wastes and achieving the prevention and minimization of the generation of plastic wastes”.
The Platform for Accelerating the Circular Economy (PACE) which is a public-private collaboration mechanism and project accelerator hosted by the World Economic Forum (WEF), dedicated to bringing about the circular economy at speed and scale, has released a joint report on a new vision for the production and consumption of electronic and electrical goods.
UNESCO agencies have organized an African regional workshop on water quality and emerging pollutants in waste water in Accra, Ghana during 25-27 September 2018. The core organizing agencies were UNESCO International Hydrological Programme - International Initiative on Water Quality (IIWQ), Regional Centre for Integrated River Basin Management (RC-IRBM), under the auspices of UNESCO Multisectoral Regional Office in Abuja, UNESCO Office in Accra, and UNESCO World Water Assessment Programme (WWAP).
The BCCC-Africa has scaled up its micro-scale technology of recycling slag obtained from the recycling of used lead acid batteries (ULAB) by safe incorporation into fired building clay bricks and tiles.
