On March 28, 2023 BCCC-Africa organized a  Workshop on National Reporting obligations under the Basel Convention.

The workshop was attended by over 27 critical stakeholders drawn from Nigerian national government regulatory institutions, including Federal Ministry of Environment (FMEnv), National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement (NESREA) and Nigeria Custom Service(NCS), Others in attendance were from the private sector, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Consultants, Media, Academia, and team from Basel Convention Coordinating Centre for the African Region in Nigeria(BCCC-Africa). There was also virtual participation from the Secretariat of the Basel, Rotterdam & Stockholm (BRS) Conventions.

The major objectives of this workshop were to:

1. Raise awareness among relevant stakeholders on National Permitting System and National Reporting on implementation of the Basel Convention.
2. Improve capacities and effectiveness of stakeholders on completing the National Trans-boundary Notification (NTBN)Form.
3. Create a platform for critical stakeholders involved in National Reporting to network and for effective information sharing.
