On the 23rd of June, as part of the activities of the closing workshop of the project “Marine Litter and microplastics: Promoting the environmentally sound management of plastic waste and achieving the prevention and minimization of the generation of plastic waste in Ghana“. BCCC-Africa in collaboration with the Secretariat of the BRS Conventions organised a 1-day training session for officerss of the Ghanaian customs and other regulatory and enforcement agencies on the implementation of the Basel Convention in preventing the illegal traffic of plastic waste in Ghana.
The objectives of the workshop was to increase participants’ knowledge and allow exchange of experiences on:
Promoting the effective control of transboundary movement of plastic waste.
How to enforce, prevent and combat illegal traffic of plastic waste in accordance with the Basel Convention
Present at the workshop were Customs and border control officers, law enforcement officers and regulators responsible for trade control of movements of plastic wastes.
